Wigtwizzle Cottage is a self catering holiday let. This grey stone former barn dates from the 17th century and is located in a wooded hamlet below our farm. The cottage’s quirky name is thought to come from the Anglo-Saxon meaning “dairy between two streams”.
Facilities
The cottage has three bedrooms and can sleep up to 6 people with a fully equipped kitchen and a bathroom with shower/bath and toilet.
The dining room and sitting room each have their own log burner. We’ll keep you well topped up with logs from the estate so you can cosy up each night in front of the fire.
Comfort is always first for us, so we have taken care to source the most comfortable beds. Linen is 100% cotton and only the most opulent duvets and towels will make the grade. The gentle shades of the décor and the thick curtains should ensure a lovely deep sleep.
There’s a small garden with parking and a number of lovely woodland and moorland walks are on your doorstep.
Sometimes in our crowded island it’s hard to find undiscovered beautiful areas. However we reckon that our lovely Ewden Valley in the northern eastern Peak District National Park really hits the spot. It’s not known by many tourists and yet it is a wild, beautiful, and unspoilt part of the Dark Peak.
We have wooded valleys, a patchwork of dry stone walled fields and heather covered moorland stretching for miles. Spot the house…You’ll be pushed although your eyes are sure to alight upon the wonderful wildlife.
The Broomhead Reservoir is a 10 minute walk away.
You won’t be too far from things to do
Other attractions such as Chatsworth and Haddon Hall in the more touristy corners of the Peak District are generally about 45 minutes away in the car.
Local towns such as Holmfirth are full of interest and there are plenty of good places to eat out.
